When having your photo taken you want to feel the best best you possibly can and to have the most fun. Well... to help you achieve this, I've put together a little list of things you can do to help achieve this.
WHEN PREPARING FOR A PHOTOSHOOT
WEAR SOMETHING YOU WOULD USUALLY WEAR
No matter what photoshoot it is you are planning for, plan to wear something you love and that you would typically wear. You want to feel the most comfortable and like yourself as possible, no need for fancy outfits or buying something new to wear... a pair of old jeans that you wear all the time are perfect!
TALK TO YOUR PARTNER/FAMILY AND ME
Have a chat before the shoot with whoever is coming to the shoot about what you would like to do and what you are comfortable with. Some people love movement photos, running around, jumping and having piggybacks and some people don't... that's just how it is. Have a chat and discuss what you would be happy with doing and what you wouldn't be so happy with. Then when you've discussed it and decided what you would like to do just let me know.
When choosing the perfect location for your photoshoot, choose somewhere that has meaning to you, somewhere you always visit, somewhere you used to visit as a kid, somewhere with sentimental meaning or somewhere that you have always wanted to visit but never had the time. Choosing a location based on any of these things makes the experience a whole lot more special and exciting.
A FEW EXAMPLES OF LOCATIONS:
Ice cream Parlour
Wedding Venue (if open to the public)
British weather can be very temperamental and it can just start raining out of the blue, so be prepared. If your shoot is going to outdoors then make sure you are wearing suitable footwear and bring a brolly just in case if you would like. Shooting in the rain can be so much fun and lots of people don't mind it at all, however if you aren't comfortable being photographed soaking wet then just let me know and we can find a sheltered area to take cover and carry on the photoshoot there.
Absolutely! If you have a dog or maybe even a cat on a lead then bring them along. Pets always make things 10x more fun and it means they get a walk at the same time. Bonus!
PRETEND I'M NOT THERE
While at your photoshoot, chat, laugh, do whatever you want to make you feel the most comfortable. Pretend I'm not there and just be you, do whatever you would usually do with the people you are there with. Find something funny to talk about or just discuss what your going to have for tea... the choice is up to you. If you completely blank out the camera and me it makes your images so much more natural and in the moment. Capturing you just being you is the best part of my job.
